Recently there have been people stepping foward, including Rep. Howard Coble who challenge the view that the Japanese Internment was racially motivated and a product of wartime hysteria. He among others claim it was a reasonable step to ensure our country's security, and they are wrong. "Intent" should never be, under the law, be a good enough argument to strip American citizens of their absolute rights.

I received a letter back from Howard Coble which stated that he believes Bush is taking many efforts to help the enviornment etc... Mr. Coble's comments are not only filled with deep ethnocentrisms and ignorant remarks, but clearly it shows a lack of knowledge of U.S. history; otherwise he would of known about the countless contributions made by Japanese Americans during WWII even in the face of incredible racism. Removing Mr. Coble cannot reverse history but it will allow some closure to the 120,000 Japanese Americans interned and to the Asian American community as well.
