Use the JACL's Action Alert to Locate Your Local Elected Official Write a Letter Dear [Your Elected Official]: As your constituent, I am outraged by the recent comments made by Rep. Coble endorsing the internment of the Japanese American community during World War II. I join the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL), the nation’s oldest and largest Asian Pacific American civil rights organization and Yellowworld.org (http://removecoble.yellowworld.org) in condemning these remarks and calling for his removal from his position as chair of the House Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security. It is intolerable that a man who publicly embraces the racist policies of the 1940s should be allowed to chair such an important and sensitive committee. In the current atmosphere of heightened security needs, the American people deserve a man who makes clear and well-reasoned decisions, not someone who supports racial profiling and ethnic scapegoating.
